How to get to BolognaFiere from the airport and the station (and where to leave your suitcase)

In short

To get to BolognaFiere from Bologna Centrale station, take TPER bus 35 or 38 outside the main exit (on the way back, the 35 or 39), a taxi, or walk for about 30 minutes. From the airport, take the Marconi Express to the station (about 7 minutes, 12.80 euros) and then the bus: the Marconi Express ticket is also valid on TPER city buses for 75 minutes. The Linea Rossa tram will reach the Fair, but it is not in service yet. And if you have a suitcase on your last day, you can hand it over to Ambrogio outside the fair.

BolognaFiere is located at viale della Fiera 20 and has four main entrances: Costituzione, Moro, Michelino and Nord. Before you leave, check your fair's website to see which entrances are open.

From Bologna Centrale station to BolognaFiere

The station is about 4 km from the exhibition district. There are three options.

By bus. TPER lines 35 and 38 leave from Piazza Medaglie d'Oro, in front of the station's main exit, and stop at the Piazza Costituzione and viale Aldo Moro entrances. To return to the station, take the 35 or 39. You can pay for your ticket with a contactless card directly on board.

By taxi. You'll find taxi ranks at the main exit (Piazza Medaglie d'Oro) and on the lower level of the Kiss&Ride, from the via Carracci exit. On opening days of the biggest fairs, expect a queue.

On foot. From the via Carracci exit it's about 30 minutes. Doable with a backpack, much less so with a wheeled suitcase.

During high-attendance fairs the BolognaFiere railway station is also open, served by trains to and from Bologna Centrale.

From Marconi Airport to BolognaFiere

The airport is about 8.5 km from the Fair.

Marconi Express + bus. The Marconi Express monorail connects the airport to Bologna Centrale in about 7 minutes. The one-way ticket costs 12.80 euros and, according to the official fares, is also valid on TPER city lines for 75 minutes. In practice: Marconi Express to the station and then bus 35 or 38, with a single ticket. You can pay with a contactless card directly at the turnstiles.

Taxi. This is the most direct option: about 8.5 km, by meter. On opening days of the big fairs, traffic around the district can add a lot of time.

By car: exits and parking

Coming from Florence, Milan or Ancona, there is a dedicated Bologna Fiera exit on the A14 motorway. From the ring road, use exit 7 for the Costituzione entrance and car park, or exit 8 for the Nord, Michelino and Moro entrances and the Michelino Parking.

The Linea Rossa tram: when it will reach the Fair

The tram's Linea Rossa will connect Borgo Panigale to the city centre and Bologna Centrale station, with one of its terminals right at the Fair, at Michelino. In the Fair area the tracks are already in place: the stretch between via Liberazione and the Michelino car park was the first to be completed, in March 2026.

But the tram is not in service yet. The first tram arrived at the Borgo Panigale depot in September 2026 and since 6 October night-time test runs have started on the first few kilometres, between Borgo Panigale and the centre. The mayor has indicated spring 2027 for the first passenger service, on that very stretch. There is no official date yet for the section to the Fair.

In other words: for the 2026 fairs, and most likely for the first ones of 2027, count on buses, taxis and the Marconi Express. When the tram reaches the Fair, we'll update this guide.

The real problem: your suitcase at the fair

Getting to the Fair is easy. Getting there with a suitcase is not. And there's more: the exhibition district's regulations allow BolognaFiere and the organisers to ban entry with bags and suitcases, requiring them to be left at the cloakroom. In other words: queues, collection at the end of the day and a rush for the train.

With Ambrogio your suitcase doesn't go into the fair at all. The handover happens in person, with you, outside the fair. Three typical situations:

  • On the last day: you check out, we pick up your suitcase at the hotel and hand it back to you outside the fair at the end of the day, or take it straight to the station or to the Marconi Express entrance for the airport.
  • You arrive and go straight to the fair: you hand us your suitcase outside the fair, or at the Marconi Express exit at the station, and you find it at your hotel.
  • You leave with materials or purchases: you hand them to us outside the fair and don't carry them around the city.

The price is per trip, from 18 euros for one suitcase (launch promotional price). For luggage over 25 kg, fragile items or more than 6 suitcases, we offer a custom quote. Book and choose the fair as your pickup or delivery place.

Tips for peak days

  • Leave with time to spare: during opening hours expect crowded buses and taxi queues.
  • Check your fair's page: for high-attendance events the BolognaFiere station is open. Up-to-date information is in the "how to get here" section of the fair's website.
  • Keep your contactless card handy: it works both at the Marconi Express turnstiles and on board the buses.
  • Don't photograph stands and products without permission: the district's regulations forbid it.
